ToolsGrid's PDF editor runs on a dual-engine architecture combining Mozilla's pdf.js rasterizer, an interactive Fabric.js canvas overlay, and pdf-lib binary stream synthesis. When you load a file, pdf.js decodes the underlying document catalog and renders pages directly into HTML5 canvas viewports at your device's native hardware pixel ratio.
User interactions—such as form text inputs, cursive font renderings, and freehand signature paths—are captured as discrete vector coordinate models on the transparent overlay layer. During export, instead of flattening the document into a low-resolution image, pdf-lib injects the vector coordinates, font glyphs, and stroke paths directly into the existing PDF content stream. The underlying text layer, selectable data, and vector crispness remain completely intact. Because execution is confined to local browser memory, sensitive tax returns and confidential legal agreements are processed on your device without remote server uploads, and buffers are cleared upon closing the tab.
